Wing One: Awareness
When I first started having anxiety, I felt out of control. I always tried to mentally fight or deny it, which made it significantly worse. It took me nearly ten years to finally stop fighting it. I finally learned that I must ACCEPT my anxiety. I learned that whenever I feel anxious, I need to sit there and feel it — not deny it. Sitting there and just feeling anxiety is a pain in the butt!! However, I know that it is not permanent. Sure, I might have it for the rest of my life, but I will get breaks :) And the more I manage my anxiety, the longer the breaks I get!
Then once my anxiety subsides - I know that I made it through alive, so I can make it through again! That’s when the next step perseverance comes in handy :)
