Waking up with Anxiety
Do you ever wake up anxious? Last Saturday, I woke up with tons of anxiety due to stress. I didn’t want it to ruin my weekend, so I had to take action. I put my phone down (because sometimes I catch myself on it for almost an hour each morning; bad habit!!), put on my boots, and sat outside.
I started noticing all of these beautiful colors on the tree in my backyard.
I couldn’t believe I hadn’t been in my backyard for almost month! I then grabbed my phone to take a few photos, and sat there for around 10 minutes while taking some deep breaths. As I focused on my breath, I closed my eyes, and listened to all of the noises around me: rain drops, birds chirping, the wind gently swaying. The longer I sat outside, the more liberated I started to feel.
When you’re inside for too long, you can start to feel trapped both physically and mentally. But when you go outside, there something so peaceful and healing about nature! It’s just there - and it can be so grounding.
If you don’t have a backyard, sit on your front porch, go to your favorite park, hiking trail, etc. Basically, go anywhere outside that brings you joy.
(Also - I tend to avoid caffeine in the morning if I am feeling anxious. Caffeine will always makes my anxiety ten times worse!)
